Six Minute Footage of Dark Knight Rises to be Shown in IMAX Theatres

There were lots of rumours flying around about this last week, but today it has been confirmed by Warner Bros that the first six minutes of Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises will be shown before IMAX showings of Mission:Impossible – Ghost Protocol.

AMC Theatres confirmed the rumour, saying that the opening scene will only be shown on 70mm IMAX screens and not the digital IMAX ones.

It would seem that Warner Bros are copying the highly successful marketing campaign they used for The Dark Knight - back in 2007 they played the first six minutes of the sequel before I Am Legend.

I think it’s pretty much a given that The Dark Knight Rises will be one of two major box-office hits next summer, the other being The Avengers. I guess Warner Bros are erring on the side of caution in using the same marketing tactics, though really, I highly doubt it’s necessary.

I’ve often wondered how many die hard fans would actually pay the price of admission just to watch these teasers. I’ve never been tempted to be honest.

Would you do it? Have you done it? Let us know below.
