Nintendo Giant Hiroshi Yamauchi Dies, Aged 85

Hiroshi Yamauchi, Nintendo’s president for over 50 years, has died at the age of 85.

Yamauchi was president of Nintendo from 1949 to 2002, and headed the transition from playing cards to video games. It has been said he is responsible for the success of the video game industry as it is today. 

Satoru Iwata has been president of Nintendo since 2002, and Hiroshi Yamauchi remained as an advisor. He is survived by his eldest son; Katsuhito Yamauchi.
