I sincerely hope that most or all of you have been watching the new series “Hannibal”, because despite all the potential there was for failure, it is awesome.  Like, blindingly fucking awesome.  Like, my new big fandom awesome.  At some point I will be writing a long article about just why the show is so kickass, but for now I want to share some amazing news.

Producer Bryan Fuller has announced that they are currently looking for the perfect actor to play Hannibal’s uncle, Count Robert Lecter.  The actor he has in mind? David fucking Bowie.

Fuller has said that, ”We have reached out to David Bowie to see if he’s interested and available.  We would love for him to play Hannibal’s uncle, who is a character from the literature and in the books.”

Aside from being a famed musician, Bowie is an accomplished actor, starring in films such as “Labyrinth”, “The Man Who Fell to Earth”, “The Prestige”, and “The Hunger”.  I personally think that his quirky style and striking looks would match beautifully with “Hannibal”‘s style.

No word yet on whether Bowie has accepted the role.
