“Space. The final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilization. To boldly go where no man has gone before.”

If you know this quote word for word, then you are almost certainly a Trekkie on some level.

Starting all the way back in 1966 with the first incarnation of Star Trek starring William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, the show expanded its horizons and went on to have multiple versions including ‘The Next Generation’ and ‘Voyager.’

Following the Starship Enterprise and it’s entire crew, they ‘Trekked’ across different galaxies and planets, while discovering new races and aliens for 40 years, the franchise has a strong loyal following that lives to this very day. After the original series, 4 more series’ followed as ‘Star Trek: The next Generation’, ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’, ‘Star Trek: Voyager’ and ‘Star Trek: Enterprise.’

During its 40+ year run, there have also been a string of movies where characters from various series cross paths with each other, with of the more famous being William Shatner’s Captain Kirk teaming with Patrick ‘Professor X’ Stewart’s character, Jean-Luc Picard.

In a modern day extension, a rebooted movie released in 2009 showing the original crew and how they came together turned out to be a success, and the sequel is scheduled for a 2013 summer release.
