Serenity LEGO is a no-go

The project to make Firefly LEGO has reached 10,000 supporters, but even so LEGO has decided against putting it into production.

They said:

LEGO produces toys for children. Therefore all LEGO products, regardless of age target, must be content-appropriate for this core audience. With this in mind we have decided that as cool as the Serenity model is, the Firefly TV show and Serenity film contain content that is not appropriate for our core target audience of children ages 6-11. While we know this news will disappoint those who supported the project, we will not be producing this as a LEGO product.

Considering some of the LEGO sets they already have in production such as Pirates of the Caribbean (certificate 12), this seems like a weak excuse. Serenity may have been a 15, but Firefly was rated 12; the same as Pirates and Star Wars Episode III. They also do a bunch of Marvel and DC universe sets, and we all know how inappropriate for children those storylines can be.
