A Lightsaber Relay? Can Only Be Comic-Con!

This year’s Comic-Con International is going to have a slightly more nerd-tastic feel to it. If that’s even possible.

In the run-up to the main event fans and celebrities will be invited to participate in the Course of the Force, a 136-mile-Olympic-style torch run.

Instead of torches however, participants will be handing over lightsabers. Of course they will!

The best thing about all of this, apart from the promise of seeing Wookiees, Klingons, various members of The Avengers, or any number of Princess Leias running around like lunatics, is the fact that all proceeds made from sponsorships will go directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The Course of the Force will begin in Santa Monica and after every quarter mile the ceremonial lightsaber will be passed on to a new runner. The event will finish in San Diego on the 11th July, just hours before the Con’s preview night begins.

So you still have a few months to get off your couches and get into training.

May the Course be with you!
