Possible Nerdgasm-Inducing Spoiler for The Avengers

 

I didn’t know this, but Jenny Agutter will be appearing in The Avengers.

“Who’s Jenny Agutter?” I hear you cry. You’ve seen American Werewolf in London right? She plays the nurse that befriends and boinks the werewolf. She’s also a stalwart of British TV dramas and is an accomplished stage actress too. So there.

Anyway, in an interview with the Radio Times (this is turning into a very British post) she briefly talks about her experiences working on such a huge Hollywood production and lets slip something that is either a typo, a mistake on her part or the reveal of a cameo appearance  of quite epic proportions that will either make nerdy/geeky heads explode, or leave behind lots of soiled underwear. Possibly both.

Take this excerpt from the magazine with a pinch of salt, but if you don’t want to be (possibly) spoiled stop reading now.

As for Agutter, she’s about to metamorphose again to appear alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson in upcoming Hollywood blockbuster The Avengers.

“I’m sworn to secrecy! I wasn’t allowed a script until I got there, and when I did I felt like a complete child being on big sets and a huge parking lot full of Winnebagos.”

She does let slip that two of these housed Spider-Man and Iron Man; we suspect Agutter won’t able to avoid sci-fi conventions for much longer.

Spider-what now?

Did she just say…? Is that even…? Whoa…

The possibility of Marvel Studios and Sony coming to some kind of arrangement is highly unlikely. But… What if… What if they have and this is a nod to The Avengers as they stand in the comic-books, leading to all manner of cross-studio shenanigans?
