COWABUNGA! Gorgeous TMNT Fanart!

David Rapoza is a freelance artist. As well as creating amazing and exquisitely detailed fanart based on all kinds of things from World of Warcraft characters to redesigning the Thundercats just because he can, he also happens to be a bit of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan.

Now I’ve never been that into the TMNT, I must admit. They’ve always been a bit too dorky, even for me. But I do like to think of myself as a bit of a follower of art, and his depictions of everyone else’s favourite heroes on a half-shell really caught my eye. They look so much more grittier, edgier and realistic and totally look like creatures that would live in the New York sewers. If a movie depicting these versions of Raphael, Michaelangelo, Donatello and Leonardo had been produced I think I would have paid more attention and become more of a fan.

As well as the four turtles he has also created images of April O’Neil, Splinter, Shredder and a whole host of other TMNT characters. He also includes process videos on some of his projects – a really cool insight into his creative process.
