Words are Pictures – An Introduction
Words are pictures. They are pictures of ideas which we decode and allow to appear in our heads. They are magic. We learn to see before we learn to speak.
Put words and pictures together and there is an immediate juxtaposition. Inside that moment, our brain fills in the story. There is no place that does this better than comics.
In this column I am going to ask and answer short-to-the-point questions about the art, writing and business of comics by showing you my process of (gasp) making comics. Occasionally I will offend people who have a narrow view of mediums. Occasionally I will interview people who make comic for a living. Occasionally people who make comics for a living are going to offend me.
Comics Disclaimer: My live art event…
…is as much the “comics” business as this comic convention or …
…this Pecha Kucha night or …..
…illustrating this page layout for my graphic novel serial The Imagination Manifesto.
